Oh where to even start xD
Favourite entry: While it is sort of a toss up, I have to say Megaman Legends. While over all ML2 is a better made game, For all its flaws I think the first one is something really special. It’s like a Sci-fi semi-steam-punk Ocarina of Time. I love the world, the characters, and the story. And nothing breaks my heart more than us never getting a Legends 3 ( well the over all death of the mega man franchise perhaps, but that is a topic for another day )
Least favourite entry: Almost hard to pick than the Favorite entry actually. For all the gems in the Megaman series, it has almost as many bombs :/ Megaman 8 is bad to the point of parody ( look up the voice acting clips ) megaman x 7 and 8 are HORRIBLE and make almost no sense with the series’s previous Direction.
But out of principle, I have to say the Mobile game. -shudder- Megaman Xover is literally the worst thing ever. I dare not even go into the details less I succumb to depression.
First one I played: Mega Man X. Imagine if you will; a young boy, his first Christmas after receiving a SNES early that year, going to bed knowing he would wake up with at least one new game in the morning. And that game was Megaman X. If you want to know why this is so good, check out egoraptors Sequalits epsidode about it, he puts it way better than I ever can. That christmas day was magical, and it was my first step into the blue bomber fandom
Most recent one I’ve played: Does Shovel Knight count? But seriously, I believe the last one I played was the fan made game ‘Megaman X Street Fighter’. Hard as balls but hay, at least its actually a megaman game ( I’M LOOKING AT YOU CAPCOM! )
Most nostalgic entry: Megaman Battle Network. I know, this game is probable the over all weakest entry into that sub genera of a 6 by 6 rpg-ish, active combat megaman game series. But I remember when it came out and it felt like a cross of pokemon cards and megaman with a half decent story that’s squeals only got better ( for the most part ) plus you could battle your friends! I played my good friend Nick for months at this game! hard to beat the nostalgic taste of child hood rivalry.
Hidden gem:Kind of hard to refer to anything Megaman related as Hidden. but if I had to give something here, it would be the Megaman Powerbattle game. Think of Megaman boss rush with a sort of fighting game feel with some awesome graphics. Very very fun!
Underrated entry: For me: megman 6. For those of you who dont know, in the original megaman series; the first 3-4 are considered really great, the later half are considered to have a stead decline. While I don’t disagree, I think 6 gets more hate than it deserves. I rather like it; and it’s silly concept of the robot tornoment going horrible wrong. But I liked G gundam so meh lol. Followed closely by the whole Megaman Zero series. A great game, probable superior to the original in many ways, but that game doesn’t get so much hate as a general lack of attention.
Overall opinion on the series: I love this series. It is probably my favorite of all time. I don’t think any other single video game franchise has gotten so much money out of me. I EVEN BOUGHT THE BAD ONES KNOWING THEY WERE BAD!!!!!!. It has its flaws and bombs, and lordy jay do they fall hard. But most of the series is great! Platformer, 3d adventure, rpg, sort-of-rpg but not really. The only character that has done so many different styles of game is the Mario series! I love megaman, and will curse capcom forever for poisoning this well and abandoning its fans! ( but thanks for the memories )
